Miko Coffee History

Family Run Business

The Miko Coffee story began in Belgium over two hundred and twenty years ago in a town called Turnhout by our founder Leo Michielsen and has since grown into one of the largest coffee roasters in Europe.

In the early years, we focussed on producing and selling roasted coffee beans to local businesses and individuals. However, the company expanded the offer over time, adding new products such as ground coffee, coffee pods, and other coffee-related products.

In the mid-20th century, Miko Coffee expanded its operations beyond Belgium, opening new facilities and distribution centres in other countries. Today, the company has a presence in over forty countries worldwide, propelling us as one of the top coffee roasters in Europe.

Throughout history, we have remained committed to producing high-quality coffee products while being socially and environmentally responsible.

Sustainability

We have implemented many sustainability initiatives, including sourcing coffee beans from certified sustainable sources and reducing its carbon footprint through various conservation efforts.

Miko today

In recent years, we have continued to innovate and expand its product offerings, focusing on meeting coffee consumers’ changing tastes and preferences worldwide.

From our humble beginnings as a small roasting business in Belgium to its current status as a global leader in the coffee industry, the history of Miko Coffee is a testament to its enduring popularity and importance in our world.

Miko coffee has over 200 years of experience and history in the coffee industry. Miko Coffee’s vast expertise and history in coffee roasting and blending provides consumers with a range of quality espresso blends each with its own unique characteristics and profile and this variety in coffee is one of the many unique offerings that make Miko Coffee one of the most favoured brands in the world. Miko Coffee is roasted in a traditional European style and is now being roasted, served and sold in many countries around the world using traditional European methods.
